What Is PV

Photovoltaics (PV) are in many ways the most exciting and promising of solar technologies. If you've ever used a solar calculator, you've seen PV in action.

As the name suggests, photovoltaic cells produce electricity directly from sunlight, a free and inexhaustible energy source. PV is distinct from other kinds of solar energy in that it harnesses the sun's light, rather than its heat. Because the hardware needed for this is entirely solid-state electronics, photovoltaic cells are extremely low-maintenance and have very long life spans.

At Sun Spirit we only specialize in Solar Pv (not to be confused with Solar Thermal), and we hope to be at the forefront for emerging science within this sector.

How Does a PV Solar System Work?

In simplistic terms, when solar panels are exposed to daylight they produce direct current (DC) electricity.  By being passed through an inverter, this electricity is converted to alternating current (AC) electricity which is the form in which electricity is provided in domestic and commercial properties.
Any electricity not utilised within the property is fed back to the grid.
