Cashback Scheme

The government launched the Clean Energy Cashback scheme to incentivize the generation of heat and power from renewable sources.

The renewable energy tariff for electricity is known as the Feed-In Tariff (FIT) and went live on April 1st 2010 and is set to decrease every year until we have finally hit our Climate Change targets by producing 20% of the nations electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Under this scheme energy suppliers make regular payments to businesses, organisations or households who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar PV panels.

Similar schemes have been released very successfully in a number of other countries and we are very lucky in the UK that we have a simple framework to follow: You are paid for all of the energy that your system generates.

In summary

Financial benefits

If you are eligible to receive the Feed-In Tariff then you will benefit in 3 ways:

  1. Generation tariff
A set rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate.

  2. Export tariff
A further 3p/kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you export to the grid.

  3. Energy bill savings
A reduction on your electricity bills, from using electricity you produce yourself.

The payments are index-linked and, for solar PV systems, guaranteed for 25 years. The Feed-in-Tariff is administered by Ofgem, and energy suppliers are responsible for payments to their customers. As soon as your solar PV system is commissioned and Sun Spirit has registered the installation, you can start claiming the Feed-In Tariff.

Which systems are covered by the FIT?

Both building mounted and ground mounted solar PV systems, up to an installation size of 5 Mega Watts, are covered by the scheme.

The tariffs available and the process for receiving them vary, depending on when the technology was installed, and whether the system and the installer were certificated under the MCS* scheme.

*MCS – Microgeneration Certification Scheme – All contractors must be registered for the above in order to design, install and commission your system.

How do we maximize your returns?

Our corporate goal is to make the governments FIT scheme a success and we strongly feel that this can only be achieved if we pass on our volume savings and industry knowledge onto you.

With partnership agreements firmly in place and coupled with a comprehensive back office including computer modeling software and a dedicated engineering department we are currently unrivalled within the industry. Lets make your install a success and you happy with the best possible returns from your available roof space.

In order to maximize your returns, we select only the premium and most efficient components for your system. Our partners, who guarantee us priority service, are without doubt world leaders within their sectors. We will not be beaten with quality of components and price.

Please remember you are purchasing a photovoltaic system, an investment for both your property and pocket. This is NOT a case of simply comparing the price of PANELS and INVERTERS!
